NEVADA HEALTH CARE ASSOCIATION LAUNCHES
NEVADA CENTER FOR ASSISTED LIVING
New combined organization to serve as “Nevada’s voice for long term care.”
Henderson, NV. (March 1, 2019) – The Nevada Health Care Association (NVHCA) has merged with the Nevada Assisted Living Association and launched the Nevada Center for Assisted Living (NVCAL). NVHCA will now advocate for residents, staff and facilities in a larger portion of the long term care continuum – from assisted living facilities to skilled nursing facilities – as “Nevada’s voice for long term care.”
The newly formed NVCAL will represent the growing assisted living community in Nevada, which currently serves thousands of individuals across the state. NVCAL will serve as an advocate for the assisted living community on public policy issues and provide critical education and professional development for residents, families and staff.
The current NVHCA board will be expanded to have two assisted living representatives. The first two assisted living board members will be Darryl Fisher, President, Mission Senior Living and Jeanne BishopParise, Executive Director, Park Place Assisted Living.
“We’re excited to announce the launch of this new organization, adding a significant new voice to advocate on behalf of Nevada’s senior care community,” said Brett Salmon, President/CEO NVHCA. “Assisted living is a rapidly growing senior care segment with unique opportunities and challenges. We are fortunate to consolidate our efforts and build an even more successful organization.”
Nevada has almost 400 assisted living communities (licensed as residential facilities for groups) with approximately 9,000 beds. Assisted living communities are another long term care option for seniors that are able to live more independently, and who do not require the regular medical care offered in a skilled nursing facility.
