QAPI: Designing, Implementing and Sustaining Excellence
Good design of an effective Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) system is based on thorough knowledge of the essential components, the institution of well-defined measures and an understanding of how your program will be assessed by the State survey agency. Its scope includes all services the organization provides. Overall improvement takes time, persistence and both short- and long-term follow up. It calls for initiative and leadership at the management level. Part I includes design and a review of the CMS five elements. Part II will review the elements in more depth and provide implementation guidelines. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the essential elements, participate in several creative exercises, and leave with helpful tools to support a successful and sustainable QAPI plan.
