Cultural Competency Renewal Course
The Nevada Health Care Association/Nevada Center for Assisted Living (NVHCA/NVCAL) now offers a Renewal Course for the Cultural Competency Training. In 2022, we have successfully carried out the initial training course to over 3,000 health workers in skilled nursing and assisted living facilities across the state. As per Nevada Legislature Board pursuant to NRS 449.0303, it is a legal requirement that facilities maintain Cultural Competency training requirements as it aids health workers to more effectively treat and provide care for patients of different cultural backgrounds.
The Renewal Course covers refresher discussions on the following topics:
Race, Ethnicity, and Culture | Implicit Bias
Social Determinants of Health | Transgender Healthcare
Gender and Racial barriers to Healthcare
Religion as Culture | Mental and Physical Disabilities
Strategies to Mitigate Unconscious Bias
Nevada State Curriculum Approval: CCT-2021-010
PLEASE NOTE: This is a per facility pricing and DOES NOT apply to new employee trainings. The fee pays for all registered employees for renewal, for the whole year. We verify that employees have previously completed the initial course before admittance to the renewal course.
If your facility has taken the initial course from another provider but would like to take advantage of this renewal course, you must pay the initial registration fee. Only facilities who have previously paid the facility registration fee in 2022, will have this fee waived.
